2009 Progressive Daniel Fast & Consecration |
This Progressive Daniel Fast refers to the discipline of abstaining from eating and drinking certain foods for spiritual purposes. This is a partial fast, not an absolute (or normal) fast, thus, this is a restriction of diet rather than a complete abstention from food. It is a completely voluntary sacrificial act. This fast is design to promote prayer, personal discipline and worship -- it is not designed for weight loss or hunger shock! When: Sunday, January 11, 2009, 6:00 PM: Begin the “Daniel Fast” Saturday, January 31, 2009, 6:00 PM: Break the Fast!What: The Daniel Fast is a progressive partial fast -- we will progressively eliminate some common things from our daily diet, but will have generous options available.
January 11, 2009, 6:00 PM – January 17, 2009 Elimination of the following pleasant foods and beverages: Desserts, candy and snacks, Sodas and coffee
Week 1 – Prayer Initiatives - Personal and Family Relationships January 11: Spiritual strength and endurance during this fast January 12: That the Word that was preached may be established in the hearts and minds for the upcoming week January 13: That the voice of the Lord becomes clear within you January 14: Repentance and personal revival January 15: That our lives would be characterized by the joy of the Lord January 16: Finances, prosperity and wisdom in administrating our personal finances January 17: Successful relationships and family
January 18, 2009 – January 24, 2009 In addition to Week 1’s restrictions, eliminate the following:Breads and rice Fried foods Fast foods
January 18: Safety and protection of our international borders January 19: Safety and protection within School Districts January 20: The Presidential Administration January 21: Economic crisis January 22: State government leaders (Senators, Representatives, Governor, Lt. Governor, Supreme Court Justices) January 23: Local Officials, Court Officials, Judges, Police Officers, Fire Department January 24: Those serving in the military
January 25, 2009 – January 31, 2009, 6:00 PM In addition to Week 1 & Week 2’s restrictions, eliminate the following:Elimination of red meat.Fried foods
January 25: Pastor, First Family – health, wealth and renewal January 26: Church leaders and members January 27: Pray for worship renewal to spread through the church, city and abroad January 28: Expansion of the ministries of The Vision Church January 29: For opportunities to be more effective in our community outreach and social justice January 30: Church home January 31: Prayer of Thanksgiving
